International Import Specialist

In your future role as an International Import Specialist, you will

 

The Import Logistics Specialist Role will provide import and customs support to all Businesses and Functions that import to North America.

The role is responsible for the trade-related requirements associated with the import of products and in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures provided by Nouryon Trade Compliance. The Import Specialist will perform duties related to import documentation review, entry filing for Customs release, and coordination to ensure timely delivery. This includes, but is not limited to, programs relating to import declarations, classification, documentation, valuation, country of origin assessment, Customs entry audits, TMS management, and final leg deliveries. 

The Import Specialist Role will be a partner in executing the trade compliance program, including the maintenance of company procedures and providing information for Trade Compliance reporting and tracking purposes. 

 

  • Monitor Customs compliance and import activities within the designated area.
  • Maintain SAP import invoice data and track changes related to Customs declarations or new statistical HTS numbers.
  • Ensure correct valuation based on goods cost at the border and proper use of incoterms.
  • Manage and track temporary imports for accurate Customs declarations.
  • Collaborate with business to maintain accurate certificates of origin.
  • Track and report Free Trade Agreement usage and savings to the Trade Compliance Team.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and policy changes through daily monitoring and guidance from Nouryon Trade Compliance.
  • Provide daily import guidance to business units and service providers, including brokers and transport companies.
  • Coordinate communications and approvals for timely import clearance per incoterms.
  • Manage import declarations and Customs approvals with Customs Broker.
  • Prepare necessary Partner Government Agency documents for import activities.
  • Audit and assess importer compliance with Customs regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage product and equipment return processes.
  • Monitor shipment schedules and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and related documentation.
  • Analyze and improve import processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Prepare and present reports on import activities, costs, and performance metrics.

 

 

We believe you bring

 

  • 2 -7+ years import experience with emphasis on Import Customs regulations:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience with customs clearance and other customs formalities;
  • Experience with certificates of origin for both non-preferential treatment and preferential treatment under one or more Free Trade Agreements;
  • Knowledge of import Government Agency processes;
  • Experience managing the import process
  • Ability to identify compliance-related risk and make recommendations for mitigating risk;
  • Experience working with trade compliance tools and processes;
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • Knowledge on Dangerous Goods Handling
  • Strong understanding of import (HTS) classifications.
